PTO Officer Descriptions:
PTO Executive Board
The President shall serve as leader and key contact for the PTO; preside at all PTO meetings; ex-officio member of most committees; appoint chairpersons for special committees; coordinate the work of the officers and committees so that the PTO’s objectives can be met. The Co-Vice President (Lead for all Activities/Events) shall act as an aide to the President; perform the duties of the President in the absence or inability of that officer to serve; assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Board; coordinate the general activities and events of all Committees created by the Executive Board.
The Co-Vice President (Lead for all Communications) shall act as an aide to the President; perform the duties of the President in the absence or inability of that officer to serve; assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Board; manage communications and marketing for the PTO, including but not limited to PTO newsletters, email broadcasts, website, bulletin boards, etc.
The Secretary shall keep the minutes of all general meetings and all meetings of the Executive Board; prepare correspondence and perform all other duties assigned; maintain master documents; keep the calendar of events for the PTO. A Co-Secretary will serve as the Membership Coordinator. The Membership coordinator shall organize the annual PTO membership drive and the on-going process to encourage membership. Maintain membership records as defined by the KCSMA PTO Bylaws. Effort is primarily in August and September.
The Co-Treasurers shall be responsible for and have custody of all funds; make disbursements as properly authorized; be present at all PTO events where money will be collected; assure that PTO policies and best practices are followed with regards to funds; prepare financial reports for each meeting and as needed; prepare the books for an annual audit.
2018-19 PTO Committees
|Community Outreach||Get Connected with local businesses and community members; identify sponsorship opportunities and ways to get more involved in our local community, i.e. Valentine’s for seniors|
|DIY||Maintain the PTO bulletin board, assist in all things creative|
|Flex||For those who can’t commit to one main committee but wants to be involved as needed. Will move between the various committees to help fill gaps|
|Fathers Being Involved (F.B.I.)||Calling all dads, uncles, granddads and positive male influencers, we are looking for men to help to help at events in the form of chaperoning, reading, cooking and being an overall presence at the school.|
|Hospitality||Will be present at major events to greet people and answer questions. In charge of encouragement|
|Recognition||Find new and exciting ways to recognize our volunteers, teachers, and students|
|Reward Programs||Help promote and track our reward programs: Box Tops and ShopaRoo|
|Room Parent||Work with the teacher to host class parties, organize materials or volunteers, participate or communicate on school-wide events|
|Social Committee||Plan and execute on in-house school social nights and vendor spirit nights|
|S.T.E.M. Committee||Partner with the school to identify ways to incorporate S.T.E.M. within our school community|
|Holiday Shop||Plan and host the annual holiday shop|
|Fall Festival||Plan and execute the fall festival|
