It’s time for our favorite book fair of the year!  The Scholastic BOGO Book Fair will be May 1st through May 8th.  

All Scholastic merchandise will be buy one, get one of equal or lesser value for free.  This book fair is not a fundraiser like the fall and winter fairs but is an awesome opportunity for families to stock up for summer reading.  We are trying to beat our previous book fairs’ All for Books donations because all of the money we raise will buy double the amount of books for our classroom libraries.

Students will be shopping with their classes, and the teachers will notify you of which date they will be shopping.  The students will not be completing wishlists because the inventory for this book fair cannot be guaranteed and fluctuates.  If you would like, especially for younger students, you may include special instructions on their payment envelope.  For example you could write, “Money to be used for books only, no diaries, pencils, etc,”  “Money to be used for one book for student, one for classroom donation,” or “Must buy age appropriate chapter books.  No Skylanders books.”   We will make every effort to follow your instructions.  A Scholastic flyer will be sent home that shows examples of books that might be available at the book fair.

 

The book fair hours are as follows:

Friday, May 1st:  8:30am to 6:30pm

Saturday, May 2nd:  11:00am to 2:00pm, during International Celebration

Monday-Thurs, May 4th-7th:  8:30am to 2:30pm

Friday, May 8th:  8:30am to 6:30pm

Cash/Credit cards only, no checks

We will be selling lollipops for 25cents, and they are not included in the buy one, get one free.  The money raised from lollipop sales will be used to buy books for classroom libraries.

As always, we will have teachers select books that they would like purchased for their classroom.  Gift certificates will also be available and make a great end of year gift.

On the day your student is scheduled to shop, please send cash (no checks) in an envelope labelled ‘Book Fair” and list the student’s name, teacher’s name, and the amount enclosed.  Please be sure to include enough to cover the 6% tax.  If you send in money after your student’s scheduled shopping day, their teacher will send them to shop during recess or other “down” time.  For every $10 spent, students will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a free book.  The drawing will be at 6:31pm on May 8th.
